To Amy, With Love.

One of the songs in her glory days from her sophomore release. I actually started listening to her after finishing my SPM. Her debut album, Frank, played a major role in shaping my adult life. I remember when I first heard Fuck Me Pumps, and singing it the whole month with my mother staring at me like 'No way, my daughter is all grown up now she sings song with a fuck in it.' Hahaha.

She died at the age of 27 last Saturday. Such a tragic death and a huge loss to the music industry. She's a singer/songwriter and not many artists today do that. Some just sing and not write songs. She was like a breath of fresh air when she first emerged with that deep and raspy voice. Of course, her long and very public battle with alcohol and drug was suspected to be the cause of her death. I was actually waiting for her new release since the last release date, Back To Black, was 3 years ago, in 2008. I was hoping maybe she would come with new materials late this year, but too bad I guess.

Talking about her style, everyone will remember her beehive hair and those dark, winged lined eyes. I actually like the way she dressed herself. Sometimes, with tank tops and very bright colored bras inside, skinnies and pumps. Simple, but sexy. When appearing on shows, she would be in her totally awesome, cleavage-boosting little dresses. If you remember, she will always be in short dresses, I can't remember seeing her in long dresses. Signature style, I guess.

So, here's to you. Thank you for shaping my early adult years with your strong lyrics and powerful vocals. God bless your soul, Amy Jade Winehouse.
