Yesterday, I exercised my right to vote. I voted in Putrajaya since I haven't changed my IC address to the current one.
It was my first time voting, well, a lot of my friends were first time voters too.
I don't really talk politics because it is not my forte and honestly, besides what's reported by the pro-government or pro-opposition media, I know nothing.
I read both, I feel like I need to educate myself with both alliances, the issues, the whatnot, yada yada yada.
See, politic talks are boring, but one has to do it once in 4/5 years.
Well, having said that, I am very lucky to have many means to get information and be well aware and informed of what's going on.
So, I chose the existing government yesterday, I know my vote is supposed to be a secret, but I'd like to take my stand and I voted for BN.
It's not because I felt like I owe it to BN for doing so much for country, I mean, seriously, BN is the government governing Malaysia, that is what they are supposed to do, work for the Malaysians. It's not also because they have been throwing money like batshit crazy to the people, I didn't get any of the money, not eligible. It is definitely not because I feel they are corruption-free. Face it, corruption will exist for as long as we live, no matter who's on top, it's there, in our face. It is mostly not because they play the race card, honestly, I have nothing to lose whoever's on top, it's not important to me because I work hard to be where I am now, without depending on my bumi status. I mean, no matter who the government is, if you're a lazy ass, you won't go anywhere. If you don't help yourself, BN/PR can't help you.
I voted for BN because I feel like there's so much potential within the party. The rising of the youth leaders especially. I voted for BN because I believe they can make a difference in Malaysia. More now, when BN only won with simple majority, it means, more opposition will question their moves and everything so they will have to take their game up a notch and do better. Do a hell lot better.
BN has to learn the hardest way so I hope they really learn something from this election, if not, it's going to go to waste come next election because I am pretty sure, if they don't improve, they won't make it when the next election comes.
And please don't tell me that I didn't vote for the future of Malaysia because I voted for BN, or that I am stupid or stuck up or doesn't want changes or tell me that I am going to hell for voting BN or some other nasty remarks because I believe I have the right to vote for whomever I deem fit for the country.
And for now, I deem BN is fit for the country.
Let's hope that stays until GE 14 comes.
Here's to a better nation!
